When you look for a home, you look for your must-haves – the right number of bedrooms, central air, maybe a first-floor master.

Dawn Adams goes one step farther. As your agent, she makes sure that the home and neighborhood match your lifestyle. That level of service requires knowing the client and knowing the area.

“That’s the fun part of being a real estate agent,” she says. “You get to know the person and what they’re looking for. You try to find something that matches them – not just the list of things they want in a home, but their personalities, too.”

Dawn is a native of central Pennsylvania and graduate of Cumberland Valley High School. For the first five years of her career, she sang for a rock band named Out of the Blue, often opening for Rusted Root.

From there, she practiced and taught dental hygiene, completing her bachelor’s degree in biology at Framingham State University in Massachusetts.

In 2012, Dawn returned to her hometown for the opportunity to serve as director of the Dental Assistant Program at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College. While there, she earned her master’s degree in education from Northeastern University.

After returning to central Pennsylvania, Dawn bought and sold three homes. Realizing that she enjoyed looking at houses and being in the real-estate environment, she decided to pursue her real estate license.

The invitation to join RSR came from her Cumberland Valley classmate, RSR Vice President Garret Rothman. RSR has been “very supportive,” she says. “It’s a family-oriented place.”

Dawn lives in Hampden Township with her 14-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son. She still sings – no longer in a rock band but with All Fired Up, an a cappella barbershop quartet that placed 15th in the world in the Sweet Adelines International 2019 championship (before COVID canceled the 2020 and 2021 competitions). For 2022, the quartet is aiming to reach the top 10.

Dawn’s years in performing and health care taught her to connect with people from all walks of life. She finds common ground and builds a strong base of communications. She’s happy to be helping homebuyers and sellers in Central Pennsylvania because it’s a great place to raise children and get involved.

“This is a very friendly community, with great school systems,” she says. “It’s a great place to be.”
